The Woody Collection
Abelia
A newer addition to our farm, Abelia is fast becoming one of our favorite cut flower woodies with its unique soft rose blooms offset by rich green foliage. These beauties bloom mid summer through fall.
Forsythia
One of the first shrubs to bloom on our farm, Forsythia ushers in spring with a pop of sunny yellow. We love the excitement it brings for warmer weather so we’ve started some in our greenhouse for earlier blooms.
Pussy Willow
One of the first buds on our farm to break bloom in late winter / early spring, Pussy Willows are known for their soft fussy blooms but we equally love their colorful autumn foliage.
Winterberry
We grow both red and orange (golden) winterberry shrubs which offer the perfect accompaniment to holiday wreaths and arrangements. These babies bring in the holiday season on our farm!
Clematis
We’ve long enjoyed this romantic climbing vine in our gardens and are super excited for the new trellised section in our perennial field where we are growing six varieties of beautiful clematis.
Holly
When we moved to the farm, we were greeted by four beautiful holly trees adorning each corner of our house. They require persistent pruning, which provides us with a bounty of holiday foliage!
Vitex
Also known as Chaste Tree, this distinctive shrub offers profuse spikes of lavender blooms starting in early summer. Interestingly, it produces a small peppercorn-like fruit used in women’s supplements.
Dogwood
We grow five varieties of dogwood shrubs for their colorful stems in fire red, orange and bright yellow in the late fall and winter as well as for their foilage and white flowers and berries in the summer and early fall.
Honeysuckle
With its distinctively sweet fragrance, honeysuckle ks a popular and productive vine on our farm. Its casual beauty adds a light airy and whimsical element to flower arrangements.
Weigela
When in bloom, this old-fashioned beauty is densely populated with flowers ranging from white through light pink to rich dark pink with foliage in vibrant green or burgandy and is a top cut flower woody.
Witch Hazel
Glowing like fiery embers, witch hazel lights up our winter garden with their fragrant yellow flowers. Blooming while other plants are just waking up, they offer bright color to winter arrangements.
